Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actress, singer as well as a dancer. Her initial roles on Broadway include the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actress in the Play in the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor and actress, has worked with actors and directors in stage and on screen throughout her entire career. It's also available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will be returning in 2023 and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal actors into the very first impeachment trial in the United States in more than 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Additional Broadway performances for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots.
